MURRUMBEENA WINE BAR
BRAND VIDEO.
BRIEF
Murrumbeena Wine Bar wanted to produce a special video to be sent to food and wine publications in an attempt to be featured, as well as have a content piece which gives potential customers an enticing glimpse into the unique aspects of the venue.
It was important to pack in a lot and ensure everything worth spotlighting was given due attention. In particular, it was requested that we show live music, a busy function, the many wines, gins, cocktails and spirits on offer, and the vibrant main room on a busy Saturday.
EXECUTION
Given the tight confines of the venue when at capacity, it was important to go in with a small and inconspicuous rig and pick appropriate moments without making patrons self-conscious. Starting early meant we were able to get unobstructed detail shots while the venue was empty. We were in it for the long haul and ready to stay all night to see the crowd build and the vibe escalate, and this paid off as the atmosphere peaked the longer the night went on.
We commissioned a custom music piece from Reece Hickey that allowed for fast cuts with its upbeat yet soulful tone. In post, we wanted to maintain the colour palette of Murrumbeena Wine Bar’s brand identity, with deep greens, yellows and reds mixed with other earthy tones. We are extremely pleased with the colour grade achieved and the feeling it conveys of warmth, friendliness, and connectedness as a community. Further work was put into sound design to amplify the clinks of glasses, pouring of ice, mixing of cocktails, and laughter of patrons to further aid the audience’s connection with the video beyond simply strong visuals.
FINAL THOUGHTs
Projects like the Murrumbeena Wine Bar Brand Video can easily turn out as a mere montage of pretty B-roll. Although there is nothing wrong with this approach, we feel the extra thought and planning that went into the production really helped tell the story of the bar. We are happy to have a satisfied client who feels their video shows their business with its best foot forward, and is an investment in the growth of the bar going forward.
