Guy Molloy x Michele Timms Interview for Channel 31.
BRIEF
As part of the Women With Drive TV show produced for Channel 31, we wanted to interview Guy Molloy – Head Coach of the Melbourne Boomers – who recently chose to move on from the team after nine years. Rather than having Guy speak to an anonymous off-camera interviewer, we had the idea of bringing in Michele Timms – a decorated player who would bring a unique dynamic to the conversation. This proved to be a great decision.
EXECUTION
Having access to the Boomer’s stadium allowed us to set the mood and light the set just how we wanted. We did not want the background or environment to distract from the intimacy of the conversation, so we chose to darken the room and isolate Guy and Michele. We feel this helped achieve a greater sense of connection with the audience, and do justice to the level of the conversation. We also chose to keep B-roll to a minimum so as not to divide the attention of the audience. This was debated, but we feel holding on Guy and Michele for the duration was the right call.
FINAL THOUGHTs
It’s clear that Guy means a lot to the team and organisation, so we approached this piece with a big sense of responsibility. We feel that this segment will be something of a time capsule, which can be looked upon with fond memories down the road, and we are proud to have had the opportunity to work with Guy, Michele and the team to get the result.
